My Journey

Coming from a single parent household, my mother introduced me to fencing in high school with hopes I would attain financial aid for college. Although I was many years behind my competitors, hard work and persistence helped me land an athletic scholarship at Temple University, an All-American title, and the honor of being the first student to win student athlete of the year twice. Recognizing my rapid development, I was motivated to become an Olympian. Over the last seven years I have worked tirelessly training for a spot on the Olympic team while building my medical career. All of my hard work, sacrifices, and sleepless nights have prepared me for this season. Now I just need your help!

What goes into qualifying for the Olympics?

Qualifying for the Olympics is no easy task. The process in the U.S.A involves 12 competitions, 8 international and 4 national competitions. In order to travel to international competitions you must be ranked within the top-12 in the country. Every result at these competitions is given a numerical value. For example: 1st place receives 2000 points and last place receives 0 points. Unfortunately, you don’t receive points unless you finish in the the top 64 at international competitions and the top 32 at national competitions. The top 4 fencers in each weapon (saber, epee, and foil) are named as the Olympic team at the end of the season in April.

Donations from my fundraiser will be put towards:

  • Traveling expenses for 12 competitions and 4-5 traveling camps

    (Flights, hotels, transportation)

  • Coaching expenses for each competition

  • Transportation to practice

  • Fitness membership fees

  • Sports psychologist

  • Athletic trainer
